On how Asia reminds me of my childhood - Construction and flowers

Since I have been in Asia I feel like I am back to the summer days when I would go to my grandparent's home as a child. Here's some of the things that remind me of those days:
  • Everything is under construction. Look at the back of the photo of me as a child. It is the same here, everybody is building homes, shops,... and like in Spain, some remain empty after being built.

  • People have flowers everywhere. Check out my grandma's geranium pots behind me, Asia is full of flowers and people take care of them.

I have taken so many photos to illustrate this topic that I will try to post them all in individual pages. I hope you enjoy time travelling with me!

Flying dragons

(Credit: iStockphoto/Jeryl Tan)
Two days ago we were in Siem Reap and during the sunset I saw some giant bats flying, I showed them to Robert and he said that those were birds.

Today we saw them again, they called them Fruit Bats and they are huge! The fly during the day and they are really batman like.

But the most impressive thing were the milions of bats we saw leaving their cave, here's some videos that show the amount of bats:

They really look like huge dragons flying and they make amazing shapes:

Cambodia's national sport: lice hunting

Thanks for the photo to kmfblog

Having had lice as a kid myself I find really funny to see so many people looking for lice and having so much fun killing them.

The very first two people that I saw after crossing the Thai border into Cambodia where a couple of girls and they seemed to have a lot of fun looking for lice.
Today drove through a number of villages and every five houses you can see people practicing this fantastic sport. I have never tried it, but it sounds like fun!

For  the people looking for new business activities, there is some business to be done killing lices in Cambodia!
